Best in Bases: Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder
BEST IN BASES: CHARLOTTE TILBURY LIGHT WONDER
I have gotten an overwhelming number of requests to bring back the Best in Bases series, and I'm bringing it back with a bang: the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation. Possibly my favourite foundation of all time. I'm actually kind of surprised I've never written its own post before considering it's so high up on the list. I digress...
This stuff might actually be magic. Basically supermodel skin in a bottle. We all know Charlotte is super OTT when it comes to describing her products, but here's what she says, "Darlings, I’ve created the holy grail of foundations! My Light Wonder Foundation features ingredients to smooth, hydrate, illuminate, minimize pores AND reduce wrinkles. This lightweight foundation will give you a beautiful, breathable complexion." To be honest, I do agree with 90% of that statement as grandiose as Charlotte may be.
Light Wonder is a medium coverage base with a fairly runny, almost gel-like formula that feels incredibly lightweight. It is hydrating, smoothing, illuminating, and reduces the appearance of pores (meaning it doesn't skin into them), as far as reducing wrinkles goes, stick to your skincare. The main thing I want to focus on here though is the smoothing aspect because my god does it make your skin look smooth and blurred out, like marble, it's craziness. I think it's down to the teeny tiny light-reflecting particles bouncing light off the skin, making you look smooth and flawless. It also contains ceramides to help repair your skin's moisture barrier to promote smoother, plumper skin over time. Yes please!
I love that it conceals my redness but also lets my freckles show through, adding to the illusion that it's just my skin instead of makeup. If you're a mega full coverage kind of person you probably won't love this, but you know I love a skin-like base and spot concealing. Match made in heaven. If you have drier skin you could probably get away with not powdering this, but oilier skins will definitely want to powder all over even if it cuts through some of that glow (tears). I think this is one of those products that just looks better as you wear it. I have normal to combo skin and I find that it lasts a good 12 hours before I feel like I look a lil too shiny (I generally just powder my t-zone).
All in all, this beaut ticks all my boxes and will definitely be something that I continue to repurchase for a long long time.
