What's in My Bag
What's in My Bag
I thought I wasn't the kind of person that carries a bunch of crap around in their bag, but looking at it all spread out maybe I am (yikes).
I also never used to be someone that touched up their makeup, but like 90% of the stuff here is makeup related... who am I?! Anyway, I got some cute things recently and I was trying to figure out a way to talk about them in one post and ta da! A what's in my bag post! Genius, Amelia. I don't know that I've ever done this before on the blog. I'm pretty sure there's an old video on private somewhere, but we don't really need to talk about that. Onto the junk!
Okay, first things first, the bag. In case you missed my England Haul, I managed to get this gorg Ted Baker Mihai (which seems to be out of stock everywhere, boo) for 50% at the airport. Not even at Duty Free, either, at our gate in the basement of Heathrow. It was fate. Anyhow, this lil' guy is great because he fits triple the amount of things that I can get into my Rebecca Minkoff Love and still has room. Plus there's handy little pockets to keep things in their places. Win.
We've got two new additions to the bag recently. First is this Coach x Keith Haring Wristlet which may be my favourite find of the year. I got it at the Coach outlet for $17 down from $95. Hell yeah. I don't have a link for it since it's an outlet, but check your local one! Mine had nearly the entire collection on sale. So in there I keep my essentials for easy removal should I need to throw them in my backpack, etc. Obviously I have multiple Glossier Balm dot Coms because ya gotta have options. Mint and Coconut are my absolute favourite flavours. So I have them on my nightstand, in my purse, and in my bathroom. Yes.
I also tend to tote around a few lip options just because. I rarely use them honestly, but to be prepared is half the victory. I've got my Glossier Gen G in Like for a super quick, no hassle lip. The Gen Gs are perfect purse lipsticks because you really don't even need a mirror to apply them, they're too easy. I like to bring Like (lol) with me because it's almost the colour of my lips, but just a teeny bit more pink. And then I also carry around one of my Sephora Cream Lip Stains in 01 Always Red because you never know when you'll need a red lip. And this red lip is the best of the best. The formula is like satin, it's matte but not uncomfortable and it lasts all day. I wore this in London and ate garlic bread and French fries. It didn't budge.
The latest addition to the bag is this perfect Chanel Palette Essentielle in Beige Clair. I mean this might be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. The palette is a part of the Travel Diary collection, and it's perfect for on the go. You get a creamy concealer, blush, and highlight in one pretty compact. (Lemme just complain for one second and say that I wish the compact was a tiiiiiiny bit heavier. I know it's supposed to be for travel, but it'd feel more luxe). I've only actually used the palette once, so this will be more of a first impressions. But be warned, my first impression is that I'm in love with a makeup palette.
I've seen a few people compare the concealer to the Glossier Stretch Concealer, but I disagree. I'd say it's more like a hybrid between the Glossier and the NARS Complete Comfort Concealer. A perfect balance. It doesn't look matte by any means, but it's also not dewy which I think makes it ideal for touch-ups. The colour is pretty spot on for me, but unfortunately the palette does only come in three shades.
The blush is a beautiful rosy-brown-pink, and the finish is sort of velvety. This is a great product to have in a touch-up palette because cream blush is foolproof and blush is generally the first thing to fade (unless you're wearing Cloud Paint)! The star of this show is the highlighter, and I kind of wish I could purchase this separately. It's an icy champagne colour that manages to look dewy without looking sweaty and feels like nothing on the skin. I already love it.
I get pretty dry hands, so I always have a L'Occitane Hand Cream in my bag. I love this formula because it's quite rich and really hydrating, but it doesn't leave a residue on my hands. The original scent is my favourite, but I also looove the Amande! I've finally used up my set of teeny ones so I'm gonna pick up the proper travel size! I also keep this Nivea Creme tin in my bag for if my hands or cuticles get really dry, and it's also great for dry elbows! Plus it's like 97 cents. My mum has always used Nivea products, so I find the scent really relaxing.
I am absolutely awful at remembering to wear perfume, so I try to keep a mini in my bag. Right now I've got Byredo's Gypsy Water which is so basic but so delicious. I'm trying to convince myself that I do not need a full size. Maybe once I use up another perfume (yeah right).
I always carry around this tiny Moleskine notebook, which is looking a little beat up and needs replacing. I jot down blog post ideas, keep lists, check off to-do's, and whatever else I feel like! It's sort of bullet-journal-esque, but I'm really not neat about it at all. Obviously, I've got an assortment of pencils and pens in the bag as well. This is probably the thing I'm most messy about as I somehow have a large collection in the depths.
I try to remember to bring headphones with me, but I generally leave them in my car because I have the worst memory. I should probably just suck it up and buy a few pairs. I like to listen to podcasts walking to class and during studio hours. I specifically listen to My Favourite Murder, so I definitely need headphones. People would probably think I'm insane. Stay Sexy Don't Get Murdered.
I've obviously also got my wallet in here but it's full of boring things that no one cares about. If you're curious I use a Fossil bi-fold because it's little and easy to stick in a pocket if I don't want to carry a purse! It needs replacing as well, but I can't find anything big enough to hold cash and cards! Although honestly, I mostly have English money and no US so I guess I don't really need the storage.
Are you guys big-bags-with-loads-of-stuff people or do you like a small bag?
