The Best of Jordan Samuel Skin
The Best of Jordan Samuel Skin
I realized the other day that while I talk about Jordan and his incredible line of skincare products quite a lot on Instagram, I've never done a dedicated post. So for all of you that are always asking me my thoughts on these beauts here you go...
For a little background on J in case you don't know: Jordan is a ballet dancer turned esthetician who trained at the Aveda Institute and with the Kate Somerville line. Man knows his stuff. He opened his own clinic three years ago starring his signature facial and a capsule of skincare products that are pure magic.
I was first introduced to Jordan when he very kindly sent me his first line of products back in May (I think?) and have been using them fairly religiously ever since. Let's start off with the Original Trio (which as of 03/11/17 is on sale for $75 woohoo!) These three are my favourite products from the line and the ones that I use on an almost daily basis.
The Plié Treatment Cleanser, now called the Aftershow Treatment Cleanser, is a gel to oil formula jam packed with olive, jojoba, and grape seed oils to remove makeup as well as sugarcane, apple and willow bark extracts to gently exfoliate and hydrate. I use this as my first cleanse most days. I love it because it feels super rich and luxurious, and I know it'll remove any trace of makeup left behind by my makeup wipe. When mixed with water it turns into more of a traditional oil cleanser and rinses easily. I also love to use this as a mask before getting in the shower, it leaves my skin feeling so soft and hydrated.
The Hydrate Facial Serum is absolutely incredible. It's an Aloe juice based serum with Hyaluronic acid, stabilized Vitamin C, hexapeptides, cucumber, tamarind, and passion flower extracts to keep your skin mega hydrated and dewy. The texture of this is a dream, it's like a runny gel thank just sinks into your skin beautifully and feels so good. In case you can't tell, I'm nearly halfway through this bottle because I slather my skin in it day and night. I love that it's no frills, so I don't need to worry about putting too much on or mixing it with other things. It's just easy. My skin has been so thoroughly hydrated since I started using this, the kind of deep down hydration that makes your skin feel plump and smooth. A hero product for sure.
Speaking of hero products... my love for the Étoile Facial Oil runs deep. I took this with me on my trip to England and it was the only thing I used (other than cleansing). Honestly my skin had never looked better, even with all that traveling wreaking havoc on my skin.
Étoile has a high concentration of cranberry seed oil, which Jordan says is the only oil to contain a 1:1 ratio of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, as well as all 8 vitamin E groups. It also features skin balancing Argan and Marula, which pair with vitamin C ester and CoQ10. This is a great oil for all skin types because it sinks in super quickly and doesn't leave a film on your skin. It again leaves my skin mega-hydrated and I've noticed a marked improvement in my skin's texture and how even the tone is. CoQ10 is a skincare superstar, it's a super powerful antioxidant and also plumps and rejuvenates the skin.
Jordan also has a version of Étoile with Retinol in it. I haven't used this tons yet, but it's an awesome retinol option for those of you with dry skin. Caroline has a post up here raving about this, so I need to incorporate this into my routine more.
There's also two new additions to the line that I've been trying out. They're still pretty new to my routine, so I'm just going to talk about them a bit. The first is the After Show Cleansing Balm, an olive-oil based balm that's even more rich than the treatment cleanser. I would definitely use this as a first cleanse and then follow up with another, as I have found that it leaves a little residue on my skin.
The Performance Cream is lovely for during the day, it's a super lightweight almost serum-like texture. It includes green tea water as the base, olive leaf extract, sodium hyaluronate and chamomile extract to fight off free radicals, hydrate and soothe. It also contains a trio of peptides at 3% to help bind water, heal and stimulate fibroblast cells. If you have super dry skin I probably wouldn't recommend this to be used as your only moisturizer. But, it is really nice and obviously much more hydrating mixed in with the Étoile.
The other amazing thing about Jordan Samuel Skin is that it is shipped directly from Jordan to you with no middle-man, allowing the costs to stay pretty low. For such high-quality products I was a little shocked at how low the price point is!
Jordan's also got a fab YouTube Channel where he talks about his products and alllll his skincare knowledge, which you should definitely check out.
Have you guys tried any JSS products?
